Leaving Florence and arriving in Paradise - 3 march

Today was very sad, we had to leave our friends that we have made over the last month. We have spent every day for the last month with these people and it was hard to say goodbye yesterday knowing that we may never see them again. Here are a few photos from Florence

We all left Firenze today. We started this trip with very little and well over the time we have accumlated quite a bit. We now have the same two backpacks plus two other bags. They will be whittled down I am sure as we use stuff, read comics and get rid of them etc. I have a new handbag, presents, jackets, jumpers, books, dvds. How will they all get home. Oh well still have a month to work this out, but let me say carry all of this stuff to the hire car was dificult but we made it.

This is the first time that we have ever driven overseas on the wrong side of the road. I dont think Brett got a very good nights sleep last night. He was worried about driving, getting out of Firenze etc.

However we made it thanks to the great concentration of both of us, brett driving and me with the directions. Once we got off the main road and headed towards where we would be living we realised this was going to be an awesome time. The countryside at this time of year is so beautiful. The hillsides are green with crops and we finally got to see the rolling hillside of Tuscany and well never want to leave.

We arrived at our house to find Carmalina still putting a few things in place for when we arrived. OMG this place is like out of a movie. It has two bedrooms, an upstairs little mezzanine level with a single bed and skylight (window) that you can lay there and watch the stars, blue sky anything. The lounge room has a fire place and it is all in the same room as the kitchen and dining room. It is perfect. I want to live here forever. There is a pool here for sumer time and I think that we will have to return when I can use it.

We both feel so privileged to be able to stay here in this amazing place. C has done such a great job of renovating the place. The apartment we are in used to be the verendah and kitchen for the house. At one time there used to be 50 people live here (in the other areas of the house which are now separated into house and apartments). The kitchen had to cook for all of the family.

The view from here is well amazing Maybe I should do a writing course so I can use better adjectives to describe this areas but imagine every cliche you have heard about tuscany and we have it.

I think we all need to book this place together.

C took us around and showed us a bit of the area and we bought a second lot of groceries as I had forgotten stuff at the first place. C has left us and is heading back to Sicily where she lives and we are here by ourselves with the fire going in the fire place with the washing machine humming in the background and the crackle of the fire next to the italian tv shows.

If this is heaven we have arrived. This trip was about finding out what we wanted to do, if we cant work it out here there is no hope anywhere else. I took no photos today but by the time I post this I will have heaps of photos.
