Montepulciano 5 March 2012

Today we went for a drive to the famous town of Montepuliciano. It is a lovely little town famous for its wine. We left mid morning and got there around lunch time. Brett seems to have the hang of this driving on the wrong side of the road, thank god. I reckon I would suck at it and am glad that he is doing the driving.

It was overcast and not the best day but we had a lovely time. When you arrive a the town, there are several car parks to choose from. We picked one and then had to walk all the way up. The town is on a hill and everything is up. Which is bad when you arrive, great for the views and even better when you leave cause everything is down.

We found this great little place to eat. The place itself wasn't much to look at but the food was great. It cost us 20 euro for 2 pastas and 2 glasses of wine which is really cheap.

After lunch it was time for another stroll around the streets and we found a place to taste some of their famous wines and well found two that we liked and bought. Not sure when we will have them but I am sure it will be over the next few days.

Time to head home, but on the way we took the wrong road (navigators fault) and well we were heading in the same direction but on a different road. There are signs all over the place here that show deer leaping (jumping, leaping, skipping) but we had never seen any until today. They do exist and they do leap everywhere. They were in the paddock beside the road playing and having fun. So now we will take the signs more seriously. I don't think they would be a good thing to have jump in front of or on top of the car. Note to self pay attention to signs with leaping deer.

It had started to rain before we got home but well nothing has come of it. Nothing special to do when we get home but relax, I am revising my grammar and brett was watching tv and the newspaper. Dinner and watch a movie. Tomorrow is relax at home day. We may drive into Asciano for the free wifi they have in one of their piazzas so I can post my blogs.

Ciao for now.
