Leaving Lyon and arriving Roma ' 2 feb 2012

2 February Rome

Surprising when we arrived in Lyon we weren't completely won over by the city but by the time we left we really really like Lyon.

Update: One last shot of my favourite bakery, wish this was coming with me.

I always make us leave for the airport really early but even doing this we kept moving and didnt really have that much time. We got held up at the check in cause the chick was having issues with our passports. Apparently she didn't know that because we are Australian that we don't need a visa and she took our passports off into an office somewhere and eventually came out and all was fine, but I was thinking of all of those tv stations where well they don't let you on. Now the interesting thing we have noticed is that we crossed into france from england and well our passports have not been stamped, does this mean we could stay longer????

easyjet once you get used to them are great, the flight was quick and the getting on and off is great and the price is awesome.

I dont know how to say this so that you will understand. But let me try, WE LOVE ROME. From the moment we arrived at the termni station and walking to our hotel. Where because it is raining every second person is trying to sell you an umbrella, I have commented about this at home and think we should have this system in Brisbane. I mean it makes sense, so you are walking somewhere and it starts to rain and you have forgotten your umbrella and out of nowhere 10 people want to sell you one, how is that not a great idea.

We were a bit doubtful about the hotel as it is 50 euro a night. We arrive and the owner is so lovely and was happy that we spoke italian. It is like we have come home. The room is great. The owner had recommended a restaurant across the road and since we really didn't feel like going to far tonight we went over.

Great. Brett has been searching for a wine for the last two years since the last trip to Italy and guess what it was on the list. As we arrived early there was no one else in the restaurant, so they just stand there and I felt like we were the main attraction. once they knew we spoke some italian they were talking to us. They spoke to us in english and we spoke to them in italian. Brett was like a pig in mud or like audry at the farm.

So a bottle of wine some pasta later in walked an english couple. They really wanted to chat and we were talking to them for a little bit but we had finished our meal and they were just starting. It was time to leave and find somewhere to buy more wine, I mean we have to celebrate arriving in Italy.

So found a supermarket and a bottle of wine for 4 euro and it is great. I love Italy.

Back home and well I can't post this tonight as we have no internet in our room but we do down stairs. so there will be posts that are late.
