Heaven exists on earth and it is called Bordeaux

Our big train trip down to Bordeaux went so smoothly. The tickets were easy to purchase at the station. Here is Brett waiting at the train station, yes that is a heater such a great idea.

We had a change over at one station and we were standing there and next minute this high speed train went past and scared the ... out of us. It was going so fast.

After a 10 minute wait our train turned up. Brett tells me we were going just as fast as the other train but when you are on it you don't notice. The trip was great.

We arrived into Bordeaux and found our hotel, oh what a breath of fresh air. the hotel is lovely, the room is lovely. See what an extra 20 euro a night pays for. However the extra money could be better spent on this town and food.

The bed is yet to be slept on but since I have taken some night time cold tablets it should be great.

We had a map and wanted to find the information centre and well walking through the streets we fell in love. This place is a food and wine lovers paradise. How could we only spend 3 night here.

The information centre girls were so lovely. So no hiring of car but we have booked a walking tour of the city tomorrow, a wine and cheese tasting for tomorrow afternoon and Friday a full day wine tour out into the wine region of Merdoc.

After booking all of these they printed out a list of wine bars. So there is one that you can go to and try rothchild wines that brett wanted to try. Apparently they don't do wine tours anymore. There are so many choices to make. So we went off and I won't bother mentioning how much we paid to taste the wines as that would be just distasteful. We did find that well for the price of the bottle of Rothchild we think we have tasted better and cheaper wines. We tried some of the other wines and still have some money on the card for another day.

The taste of the one rothchild wine, this photo should give you an idea of how much we paid for a tasting and how small the tasting was, but it had to be done.

The information girl gave a list of wine bars and I have issued the challenge of trying them all before we go. I don't know whether we will be able to do this but well the challenge has been set.

Keep an eye out here to see how we go.

Ok now on another note. Check out these photos.

Yes these are all made of chocolate. Now you know why I can never leave here.

Time to go home to bed as I didn't take my afternoon cold tablet and I am feeling bad. We had a small meal in the hotel and am now showered and clean and writing to you all.
