Medoc wine region

Quick update as it is 11.30 at night. We got back to hotel about 7ish and have spent the last hours researching and booking the next 2 weeks. we will remain in Bordeaux for another 5 days as we love it so much, but we have to move hotel, too expensive to stay here. We then head to Lyon (food captial) for 7 days and then it will be off to italy. We are excited as we will get a few days in Rome before we head to Florence for our month. Man how our holidays are going so quickly.

So to today. We had such a great day and we are glad that we did a tour rather than trying to hire a car ourselves. The wineries here are different than they are in Australia. You have to ring and make appointments. So we went to two wineries, had lunch in Paulac (not right spelling) and then onto a Wine place that has many different wines from all over France. We have discovered the wines over here are very controlled about where they can grow, what they can grow. No wine at all is irrigated in the Medoc region and I think this is the same for all of the wine regions. This is law set by the government. It all gets a bit silly an a bit confusing. Will discuss in further detail if you want when we get back and have a get together. Some of the wines where ok and some were good. Nothing that stood out and went wow buy me. The first winery we got a tour and talk about the vines and planting etc and then second winery was about barreling and bottling etc. It was all very interesting. Lunch was back to being fantastic but had to rush it as we only had an hour. So the day went by in a blur and we didn't really feel like tea. It is hard not to overeat here as they have set menus for 13 euro for 3 courses. have to keep saying no only have one meal. which is hard cause sometimes the set menu is cheaper than one main meal. dam you upgrade people.

Tea tonight was chocolate but now I feel bad as on tv they are showing a show about child labour used for collecting coco. Note to self stop watching tv.
