Mon ami - part 2 (14 Jan)

Isabelle dropped us back to the hotel for a rest while she went home and prepared what was to be an amazing dinner and very lovely evening.

At 7.30 she came and picked us up and this started such a lovely evening. She had invited two of her friends (sorry to them for spelling their names wrong) Sebastan and Annalise.

The food was absolutely amazing and the company was just as great. We had so much fun and laughed so much.

Here they are having pre dinner drinks and snacks.

Does anyone recognize this very handsome french man. He looks very much like my husband but only french.

First course
This is the pan that has the burning flames of cognac that was going over the lobster/crab bisque. We were sitting at the table and Isabelle, Brett and Sebastan were in the kitchen and we could here laughing and a lot of yelling and then they came out with this. If you look closely at this photo you can see the outline of the flames.

This was amazing and tasted great.

Second course

Quail with cous cous salad and witlof salad. OMG these were amazing. Perfectly cooked and tasted great.

Dessert
OK, here in France in January they have this type of cake that you have to eat. In the cake is a toy etc. The youngest person in the house has to get under the table and has they cut the cake this person says who it is to go to. This is so there is no cheating in getting the toy. So lucky I wasn't the youngest. There is a story behind the cake but I didn't remember it. Something to do with Jesus and receiving gifts from the wise men.

So funny, it ended up that none of us got the toy. Eventually it was found and I got it.

Isabelle had also made chocolate mousse and it was amazing. I was so full I could only eat half of it. OMG so much fantastic food. It was such a great night. It shows that you don't always have to understand everything that is said to have a good time.

Isabelle had also bought Brett a birthday present.

It was a wine temperature ring. You put it on the bottle to tell the temperature, also a little mosaic tile with a french saying on it to hang in our kitchen.
So thoughtful and lovely.

Thanks very much Isabelle for such a lovely time and inviting us into your home and providing with such a warm welcome. Your friends are also very lovely and very thoughtful.

Tomorrow we are meeting up for lunch and then dinner.

OMG it was 1am before we got to sleep which is why this is being finished the next morning.

Love to all.
