Montmartre you are so beautiful

Lunch today was thanks to Jules (even over here you are awesome). We went looking for a restaurant that had been recommended and found it, only to find they have gone fishing (no not literally but apparently a lot of people go on holidays at this time of year). So we found Jules instead.

Man 4 courses, it was supposed to be only 3 but we wanted to try foi grais and let me say and Brett will back me up yummy.

Snails for Brett

We also had goats cheese salad (I have taken photos but run out of room on Ipad so you only get highlights and snails where highlight. Maybe not so great but well had to try them.

Fillet minot with sauce and veggies (again it always sounds better in french).
Chocolate tart with a light custard for me and brett had some sort of ice cream dessert also yum.

OMG this was fantastic. However we hadn't left ourselves much time to get two subway changes to get to the tour of Montmartre. So there was some running (not great after 4 courses and some wine). Two changes of trains more bloody stairs and the tour was still waiting. This area is beautiful, it is were Moulin Rouge is and also red light district.

Vincent Van Gough and Picasso lived and worked in this area. It was were all the starving artists, up and coming artists lived and worked. Not so much now, it is more for tourists.

When you get to the top of the only hill you have a church that was built by the government but look at the view behind me, that is all of paris before you, so it is worth the walk. Plus if you come up the back way you don't have walk 4 million stairs. It was worth the walk and apparently this is the quietest it has ever been.

we ended the tour right next door to the Moulin Rouge in an irish bar. Their normal place is renovating.

So much to see in Paris and the tours we have taken have been amazing and we are really starting to understand the importance sometimes of having a tour guide.

They don't have a branch in Rome / Florence maybe we could start one Anna.
