On the road - New Year's eve

new year's eve.

We picked up our hire car and headed off to rick stein ville. Here is Brett signing his life away.

It was supposed to be a 3 hr trip but we took the long way. There is the short way or the A39. We took the A39 as it was more scenic route and more scenic it was. The countryside and the little villages are so adorable. We stopped in to see Dunster castle but it was closed. I did get a photo from the outside to prove that I have seen a castle.

Keep driving. I think we found the most beautiful town in all of England. Lynmouth would have to be it. We were only driving through and did't want to stop as we had a little way to go but OMG, there is no way pictures could do this place justice. I wish we had more time.

Like I said scenic but long and then the fog came in. Does anyone know the difference between fog and mist. Please post an answer.

By one o'clock I was so hungry and asked Brett to find lunch, so driving through the fog, what do you think materialised in front of us but (let me hear it) a pub. This pub has been serving ale and food for 300 years. We were dissapointed that we couldn't stay for the afternoon but we had lunch and pressed on. Sorry no photo.

Finally we arrived at Padstow. This is a lovey seaside village wih many one way streets. The streets were busy when we arrived but well we have just headed back to our room (small) to get ready for new Year eve dinner at the Rick stein Bistro and well the street's are deserted. Maybe everyone has gone home to get ready to go back out again. I think they have fire works here tonight. Hope we can stay awake that long. They let their dogs into the pubs here and there was a little (fatter than audry) staffy and brett wouldn't let me go pat her - so mean. so next update should be a review of where we are staying.

bed rating: good I think, brett is finding that they arent long enough.
Room: It is rather small compared to everywhere else we have stayed.

Greg you were right in that there are so many places to see and stay that you really don't need to book anywhere as there are so many different things you can see and do.

Ok we are back from dinner and I think we both agree that was one of the best meals ever. We both had fish dishes and they were outstanding. We had a lovely bottle of pinot grigio with dinner and then finished it off with pecan and chocolate tart for me and toffee pudding for brett. It is now 11pm and we only have to wait another 1hr to see the fireworks, I think we will make it. I can hear more people outside as they finish their dinners and start walking around.

To all of you happy new year and may the new year bring you love, friendship and much joy.

Brett seems to think there is a family resemblance. Comments anyone.
